THE CLIMATE REALITY PROJECT
was founded in 2006 by Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore to teach people how to educate on Climate Change, and urge others to take action. In 2019, the Climate Reality Capital Region Chapter began with just 5 members and now four years later has grown to a group of over 140 members. We are continuing the project's mission on the ground in the capital region and Adirondacks.
OUR CHAPTER’S MISSION
We aim to educate the public about climate science and solutions, build coalitions with other climate activists, and conduct issue advocacy campaigns in order to bring about the rapid and just implementation of economy-wide climate solutions at the local, state, and national levels as well as the development of resiliency plans.
MONTHLY CHAPTER MEETINGS
Every month our chapter holds a monthly meeting open to the public, this event usually includes panelists made up of local activists who talk about what they’re working on or experts who educate about a specific area. The event also has breakout rooms for connecting with other chapter members and talking about the issues. This is a great way to learn more about what’s going on in the city, and the meeting is also an opportunity to meet others taking similar action on climate.
Join our chapter to attend monthly chapter meetings!
JOIN A COMMITTEE
Our chapter is running three committees, which are focused on specific areas of climate action. When you sign up for our chapter, you can learn more about what these teams are up to, join one to help contribute, or even start one around a push in your community that the chapter can help facilitate.
Examples of ongoing current committees are Our Climate Moment, a lobbying campaign to influence our legislators locally and federally, and the Environmental Justice Committee and Food Committee.
ATTEND A CLIMATE REALITY TRAINING
Make a difference in 2022 by joining the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, a global community of world changers working to solve the climate crisis and build a just and healthy future for the Earth. This is a great opportunity to learn how to educate on climate.
Start by attending a free virtual Climate Reality Leadership Corps training with former US Vice President Al Gore and a team of thought leaders, activists, and scientists. And start making a difference when it matters.
HELP LEAD THE WAY
Our Chapter is completely volunteer-led, which means we need your help to keep organizing and facilitating action. From helping spread the word on social media to writing blog posts, our Leadership Team consistently needs help in monthly operations.
